At Kings Cross Dental Clinic we provide the very latest Lumineer 2 which has been proven to be at least 25% stronger than the first generation of Lumineers. The first generation have been clinically proven to last up to 20 years even though they are as thin as a contact lens.
Just like the traditional ceramic veneer, Lumineers can reshape your smile and give you the smile makeover you desire. Lumineers are used to close gaps and enhance the appearance of worn-down, discoloured and unsightly looking teeth.
The main differences of Lumineers are that they are made from special patented cerinate porcelain that is very strong yet thinner than the traditional veneer. Their thickness are comparable to contact lenses and have been called the “contact lens for teeth”. The advantage of these ultra-thin yet super strong veneers is the ability to place the Lumineer over the tooth without having to drill away at the natural tooth substance (some occasions do require minimum drilling) allowing the procedure to be reversible.
Lumineers are so versatile that they can even be placed over an existing crown or bridge work without the need to replace them. They can be considered the perfect solution for stained, chipped, discoloured and slightly crooked teeth.
Not all dentists can offer Lumineers as they do need to be registered with the company that manufactures them. All Lumineers are made by the Cerinate Smile Design Studio in California, USA.
There is the need for 2 visits to the dentist; the first visit will consist of an impression of your teeth along with photos so that the manufactures can create the shape and ideal smile for you. The second visit is a simple and painless fitting of your custom made Lumineers.
