Kings Cross Dental- Advice to avoid Acid erosion – Foods to be weary of!
2nd July 2015
With the growing incidence of tooth surface loss in our patients at our central London dentist clinics, we thought it wise to describe those foods that contribute to this ever growing phenomenon. Certain foods are high in acid, and this softens and erodes enamel. Enamel is a dead tissue and once it is lost, it never regrows.
The list below shows foods high in acid that can cause considerable damage.
Lemon Juice
Wine
Sports Drinks
Tonic Water
Carbonated Soft Drinks
Oranges
Plums
Iced Tea
Strawberries
Grapefruit Juice
Vinegar
Apple Sauce
Apple Juice
Salad Dressing
Orange Juice
White Wine
Tomatoes
We suggest using pro enamel toothpaste and having 3 balanced meals a day, and avoiding the use of snacks.
