New Study: Amalgam Fillings May increase levels of mercury in the body
21st November 2016
A new study has revealed that there may be an interconnection between the number of amalgam fillings and the mercury level in the body.
With over 15000 patients taking part in the the research carried out By Dr. Xu at The University Of Georgia, USA, the results indicated all patients who have more then 8 fillings demonstrate about 150 percent more mercury in the blood.
The next phase in the study showed an increase in methylmercury, the most toxic form of mercury associated with dental fillings.
The American Dental Association (ADA) responded to the study clarifying its position on dental amalgams remains unchanged, in that its safe for use in adults, but not recommended in pregnant women and in children under 6.
At our practices at Carnaby Street Dental W1F 7DL, Centre Point Dental WC2H 0LA and Kings Cross Dental WC1X 8QD, we continue to provide mercury free dentistry, with safe mercury removal using techniques set out by The British Society Of mercury Free Dentistry.
